Parry Lodge (Kanab, UT): After working on the Tom Mix feature Deadwood Coach, the Parry brothers built this hotel in 1931 to feed and house movie crews.
Hotel Paisano (Marfa, TX): James Dean, Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor rested their heads here while filming 1955’s Giant; a viewing room off the lobby plays the film all day long.
Rochester Hotel (Tucson, AZ): This 1892 hotel names its guest rooms after movies filmed in the area, such as Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid.
El Rancho (Gallup, NM): Built by the brother of movie magnate D.W. Griffith, this hotel quickly became a gathering place for Hollywood stars like Katherine Hepburn and Kirk Douglas.
Desert Sands Hotel (Albuquerque, NM): Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) finds his last stand at this 1957 hotel in No Country for Old Men.
New Sheridan Hotel (Telluride, CO): The hotel’s 1895 bar was featured in the opening scenes of Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, when we first meet the Sundance Kid.
Cottonwood Hotel (Cottonwood, AZ): John Wayne reportedly romanced Gail Russell here while filming 1946’s Angel and the Badman; the hotel’s largest suite is still called the “John Wayne Suite.”
Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (Los Angeles, CA): Bruce Willis’s Tom Mix and James Garner’s Wyatt Earp fought in a climatic showdown against the bad guy and police in the hotel lobby for 1988’s Sunset.
Red Cliffs Lodge (Moab, UT): The hotel’s museum houses memorabilia from early movies shot at this former 1800s ranch up to more recent ones filmed in the Moab area.
